Trading Safely

Trading on MarketPrice is the easiest way to buy and sell online. As with any online trading, there is a small risk that the person on the other end won't deliver what's promised. However, MarketPrice is committed to providing a safe trading environment with mechanisms for checking the trustworthiness of traders and helping to track down and report any offenders to the appropriate authorities.

It is important to note that most problems people experience with trades online are the result of simple miscommunication. They can be prevented easily by asking questions before committing to a sale and keeping in touch with the other party after the sale. For example, problems with delivery times and costs can be solved by agreeing on the exact delivery method prior to completing the sale and keeping in touch afterwards.

Trust

1. Look at the trader's Feedback. Do they have many negative pieces of feedback? How is their Buying/Selling history?

2. Read the Q&A section of the trader's listing and ask your own questions if you are not completely sure of any aspect of the listing. Beware of lots of unanswered questions - coupled with lacking feedback this could be a sign of carelessness, or worse.

3. If possible, ask to pickup the item, so you can inspect it before handing over your money.

Security

1. MarketPrice logs the IP addresses and transaction history of all traders specifically for fighting fraud. The need for this information is very rare and it is subject to our Privacy Policy, but if you think you have fallen victim to fraud, please contact us immediately.

2. Only reveal your bank account number to the buyer in private, using the contact details MarketPrice provides you after completing the sale. Do not reveal your Credit Card number to anybody.

3. Beware of traders asking to complete a sale outside the MarketPrice system. If we have no record of the sale, we won't be able to help you track down the trader, should you have any problems.

4. MarketPrice will never ask for your password, bank account number or credit card number over email, so if you get such a request steer clear and report it to us.
