Russell Peters - Auckland

International comedy phenomenon Russell Peters has just announced his eagerly-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand. Peters is set to perform a cross country, 5 city tour, performing in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland, New Zealand in March 2010. He returns after two years by popular demand, tickets for the tour will go on sale Tuesday, December 1st, 2009. Peters has set the national tour as part of his “Green Card Tour,” featuring all new material since the release of his latest DVD, Red, White and Brown. He was recently ranked by Forbes -- along with Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock -- as one of the top ten highest grossing stand-up comics in the U.S. With his signature irreverent take on race, culture and all of our so-called differences, Peters has gained a devoted global following and has been packing theatres, arenas and clubs worldwide for two decades.

Celebrating 20 years as a stand up comedian, Peters just finished a nationwide tour of Canada where over 175,000 fans turned-out to support the international funny man – including a record-breaking attendance for the largest stand-up show in Montreal’s Just For Laughs Comedy Festival’s history. Continuously working on new projects, Peters has just signed with Double Day Canada to publish his first book and is also developing new sitcom projects; a romantic comedy with Billy Crystal and executive producing television specials. In 2009 Peters will have performed in over 125 shows around the world, from 16,000 seat arenas to 400 seat clubs, to the HMCS Winnipeg for the Canadian Navy to The Amman Stand-up Comedy Festival under invitation from HM King Abdullah II of Jordan. In February 2009, Peters set a new UK attendance record with over 16,000 fans at his sold-out show at London’s O2 Arena.

The tour will be begin in Perth at the Challenge Stadium on Wednesday, March 3rd, Brisbane’s Convention Centre on Friday, March 5th, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday, March 9th, Sydney’s Acer Arena on Friday, March 12th and Auckland’s Aotea Centre, The Edge on Monday, March 15th. The tour comes complete with video screens and will be shot with three cameras so that all the fans can get a good look at the rubber-faced funny man.
